Six Word Winter 2019
“In winter, I plot and plan. In spring, I move.”
-Henry Rollins, Catalyst
Six words. We’ve seen over time that a person can change, or define their life in just six words. (Here, see?)
I’ve been writing my own six word stories in summer and winter for many years now as part of a personal commitment to this small, reflective cognitive exercise. I find that summer and winter are the journeying and reveling seasons while spring and fall are more transitional, thus the former two serve better for reflection and the latter for action. Perhaps I serve as an example, an encouragement or an accountability partner to some of the folk who have sent me theirs over the years. Whatever the case, I wouldn’t stop now if I could. After years, they’ve become fine touchstones.
Thus, hear are mine for Winter 2019:
Family Life
Arm-in-arm, love-in-love.
Personal Journey
Reflecting on yesterday to triumph tomorrow.
Saying a Grateful Farewell
Snow came late, joy rose often.
Each of those six word stories carries potent memories, hopes and delights for me, and though they may not evoke the same for you, they’re still stirring. That’s the power of a six word story, to be both personal and universal at the same time.
I welcome reading yours, feel free to post them in the comment box with pride or email them directly to me here as some prefer.
Happy Spring!
